We’re buzzing with excitement following our exhilarating experience at this year’s ESC Congress in Amsterdam. At the biggest cardiology event of the year, the PMcardio booth served as a hub for transformative conversations, attracting some of the most eminent minds in cardiology. Here’s a recap of the major developments.
The OMI Paradigm Shift
Our activities at the global event highlighted the significance of the OMI/NOMI paradigm shift in the management of acute heart attacks. Led by Prof. Dr. Steve Smith and Dr. Pendell Meyers, this approach aims to rectify the diagnostic gaps left by the traditional STEMI/NSTEMI model. Although this model has been instrumental in the past, it frequently overlooks patients requiring immediate intervention for acute coronary occlusion. The OMI paradigm, although eye-opening, necessitates high-level ECG interpretation skills, making its widespread adoption a challenge.
Introducing Queen of Hearts: The OMI Game-Changer
This leads us to PMcardio’s groundbreaking Queen of Hearts OMI AI algorithm. Engineered to meet the challenges of the OMI paradigm, it detects OMI cases with twice the sensitivity and three hours ahead of current methods. This revolutionary AI model enables any practitioner to detect Oclusion Myocardial Infarction, in both STEMI and NSTEMI patients, allowing for prompt intervention. The integration of such technology into the hospital and emergency workstreams allows prompt intervention for Acute Coronary Syndrome patients, not only saving their life but also preventing post-ACS complications and minimising the chances of the patients developing dangerous conditions, such as Heart Failure.
OMI AI Model in Clinical Practice
We’re excited to announce that the groundbreaking Queen of Hearts algorithm is set to be integrated into PMcardio’s app and API solutions. Scheduled for release in October 2023, this advanced OMI AI model is currently in clinical trials at more than 60 centers worldwide. With thousands of medical professionals already on our waiting list, The Queen of Hearts is already resonating strongly within the medical community.

About the Queen of Hearts:
PMcardio’s OMI AI Model, also known as the Queen of Hearts, enables physicians to detect Occlusion Myocardial Infarction (OMI) from any 12-lead ECG in STEMI and NSTEMI patients. Although this criterium has been instrumental in the past, it frequently overlooks patients requiring immediate intervention for Acute Coronary Occlusion. The Queen of Hearts has been developed to rectify the diagnostic gaps left by the traditional STEMI/NSTEMI model, targeting frequent misidentification and delayed management of acute Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS).
Using current diagnostic methods, nearly 30% of Myocardial Infarction (MI) cases categorised as NSTEMI are in fact false negatives. The integration of the OMI AI Model into hospital and emergency care workstreams enables effective patient triage, facilitating immediate interventions for genuine OMI cases. This minimises the risk of post-ACS complications and reduces the chance of patients developing chronic conditions such as Heart Failure. Conversely, approximately 15% of cases identified as STEMI prove to be false positives. These instances lead to unnecessary surgical procedures, consuming cath lab resources that could be more appropriately allocated to patients in acute need.
With double the sensitivity and three hours ahead of the current standard of care, the Queen of Hearts emerges as the new golden standard in diagnostic precision. It equips healthcare professionals with an invaluable tool for informed decision-making, enabling timely and appropriate care. This state-of-the-art technology not only extends but also enhances the lives of patients with cardiovascular conditions.
About ESC Congress:
The ESC Congress 2023, organized by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), is the world’s largest conference in cardiovascular medicine. It will be held from August 25 to August 28, 2023, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The theme of the congress is “Joining forces to protect the heart”. The spotlight of ESC Congress 2023 will be heart failure, which is relevant to all areas of cardiology and beyond. The congress aims to provide the latest research findings, in-depth science, and clinical teaching in cardiovascular medicine.
